March 3, 2020. Tacoma, Washington. On March 3, 2020, three months before George Floyd was killed, Manuel Ellis found himself in a similar situation at an intersection in Tacoma, WA. He was tased, on his stomach, handcuffed, and held down by a police officer kneeling on his back. Despite pleas that he couldn’t breathe, Manny remained in that position until he suffocated to death.
