As we move through one of the last months of summer, I do hope that you are having a wonderful time

and are able to get away from the work and the stresses of daily life to have a little fun.

Now on to our first piece of fiction for the month of August 2012.

This is a short piece, so don't get involved too much into the things that you're doing while listening.

It's about a thousand words, and it's from a fan favorite,

Kidge Johnson. The piece is entitled Mantis Wives.

Since her first sale in 1987, Kidge has sold dozens of short stories to markets including amazing stories,

analog asmos, dualist magazine, fantasy and science fiction

realms of fantasy, and Clark's World.

In 2009, she won the World Fantasy

for 26 Mongeys, also the Abyss, which

was also a finalist for the Hugo and Nebula.

She won the 2010 Nebula for Spar, Clark's World Favorite,

the 2011 Nebula for Ponies,

also a finalist for the Hugo and World Fantasy,

and the 2012 Nebula for the man who

bridged the mist. Currently a finalist for the Hugo as well. She can be

So without further ado, let me tell you, a story.
