I have this idea that I call the feather brick dump truck phenomenon.

0:05.0

And basically what that means is when we are showing early signs of burnout,

0:11.0

our body will give us feedback, usually in subtle ways in the beginning.

0:14.8

So the feather might be waking up in the morning and feeling a little bit tired,

0:18.8

maybe a little bit exhausted. The brick you know maybe you ignore that or you don't notice in it, and then three or four weeks later you have like a fight with someone or an argument or you just feel frustrated and terrible and you lose your call.

0:33.0

And then maybe the dump truck is a month later or even a year later,

0:37.0

there's like a full-blown health crisis,

0:39.0

or you develop type 2 diabetes, or you know, there's a whole range of things or maybe you get fired

0:44.7

like ideally you want to notice when it's the feather and then make adjustments or shift then

0:48.8

and not have to wait until you experience the the full-blown pain of the dump truck which unfortunately is what happens to a lot of people

0:57.3

especially when they experience burnout for the first time.

Today my guest is Johnny Miller. Johnny teaches courses and does 101 coaching

nervous system mastery, which is essentially a set of tools and techniques for cultivating calm,

1:16.3

upgrading your resilience, and increasing your aliveness. If you can get better at dealing with

1:21.6

stressful situations,

1:23.0

avoiding burnout, and being more confident in meetings and big presentations,

1:27.7

it becomes a superpower and a huge advantage in both business and in life.

1:32.3

I actually read a post by Johnny about a year

1:34.3

ago and it totally changed the way that I think about nervousness and stress and I still

1:39.2

apply many of his lessons today. In our conversation we dive deep into Johnny's key insights. We talk

1:45.0

about why the best way to stay calm in stressful situations is to focus on the
