0:07.0 | Supremacy is the real story behind the struggle to own our digital future and potentially the very nature of human experience. |
0:16.0 | Supremacy by Parmy Olson, described as a riveting tale by the new scientist, winner of the Financial Times Business Book of the Year, and now the Waterstone's non-fiction book of the month. Listen to the audiobook of Supremacy Now. |
0:29.8 | Music Welcome to the Total Soccer Show and the glorious return of the weekend review. |
0:58.3 | The Premier League is back and what have we learned? |
1:01.0 | Well, if you face Man City, you might get burned with Reinders and Cherokee, the citizens were racing. |
1:06.7 | But just don't mention the 115 charges they're still facing. |
1:09.5 | The big match saw Man United attacking with glee, but they couldn't get a point against set-piece FC. |
1:15.8 | Arsenal's keeper provided a ray of light, and with a decent shot stopper for United, it might have been a fair fight. |
1:22.3 | Bournemouth had high hopes when they put Liverpool on the ropes, but Keezer and Sala struck late to fulfill the usual defending champion tropes. Sunderland had a great start they could take to the bank, and so did Tottenham under new coach Thomas Frank, and Newcastle failed to score and took it on the chin. If only they had a great strike could bang a few goals in. Elsewhere, Harry Kane helped buy and earn a Super Cup crown, and Laminuol did what Laminuil does. He scored from downtown. My name's Ryan Bailey, joining me today. Taylor, welcome. Hello, Taylor. How are you? I am doing very well, my friend. I'm feeling optimistic about very few of my predictions, but doing well all the same because the Premier League is back. It is indeed. And you and your Man United. We've got lots to talk about. We're going to get to them first, I think. But I think... It's a very optimistic one, no loss. There we go. Yeah, there we go. You've proven you can beat anybody except the team you didn't beat. Just that little thing. Yeah, just that little thing. |
2:18.4 | Don't worry about that little guy. |
2:18.8 | It's fine. |
2:19.8 | Yeah, we'll get to that. |
2:21.0 | Joe Lowry, hello, how are you? I am great. Honestly, I am happy the Premier League is back. I'm far more happy that Ryan Bailey's rhyming introductions are back in full force. Ryan, that was delightful, truly. I think I've said this before, but when I travel places, and I'm talking about the show or people, you know, recognize me or whatever it is, that happens infrequently because we are largely an audio medium and even still. When people come up and talk to me about the show, they're like, hey, man, those rhyming introductions from Ryan are the best. Do you feel at home doing any other thing on the show more than that? Like, is that the thing that you feel like is your thing? |
2:51.0 | This is a genuine question. |
2:51.9 | Or is there, like, another thing, the hosting, the transitioning from one thing to the next, throwing to the ad breaks. You know what I mean? International football. Right. I mean, talking about the 90s. Like, what is it, Ryan? Is that your thing, like, that you treasure most on the show? I think it's that or interrupting Graham with really bad jokes while he's trying to make a salient point. |
2:51.9 | Good, good. |
2:52.7 | Both excellent, excellent tasks. I think it's that or interrupting Graham with really bad jokes while he's trying to make a salient point. |
3:08.6 | Good, good. Both excellent, excellent tasks. Yeah, I think that's probably it. |
3:13.1 | Graham, Muffin, hello, how are you? I'm very well, Ryan Bailey. How is, how's dog life treating you? |
3:18.2 | That's DOG life, not DAWG life. Although you're loving both. |
3:24.0 | Yeah, they're both going great thank you for asking yes |
