This story is revealing because it shows how adults assign real emotional and financial meaning to symbols.

It's kind of embarrassing, actually.

It's just cards.

The IMPD responded to a shooting on the east side of Indianapolis after two grown-ass adult males suffered gunshot wounds over an argument over Pokemon cards.

Yeah, this story has gotten picked up nationally because I think of the headline of, you know, two guys getting shot or a shooting taking place over Pokemon cards.

And initially you think, ah, that's kind of silly and ridiculous.

But if you think about it, these Pokemon cards, or at least some of them, are worth

an incredible amount of money.

They're the new baseball cards.

I mean, we had a Pokemon card, one Pokemon card sold just a couple of months ago for

$16 million.

Many others regularly sell for six figures and certainly a lot of $1,000 ones out there. So you hear about transactions like this. You know, somebody agrees to sell something. It's worth a lot of money. They meet in a parking lot, and then things get violent. And that was the case here. You've got manufactured scarcity weaponized through nostalgia. That's what's happening.

They're just worth a lot of money.

So, of course, there may be some violence that happens between strangers,

but it was a crazy story, and it has gone national and is being picked up everywhere right now.

And right here in Indianapolis.
