and thus the horror genre in Hollywood was born.

Over the next few years, all major studios tried to replicate the success of Frankenstein

But it was universal that continued to be the number one studio for horror,

with several more Gothic horror hits over the next few years, including The Mummy, Murders in the Rue Morg, the Black Cat, and James

Finally, in 1935, Universal began production for a sequel to their biggest hit, Frankenstein. James Whale, who was

initially reluctant to return to the world of Frankenstein and to horror in general,

insisted he would only take this project if he could bring a more fun, comedic tone to the story.

The result was Bride of Frankenstein, a truly unique horror sequel that remains unmatched

90 years on, Bride of Frankenstein is widely regarded as one of the best horror sequels ever made,
