Throughout his career, Brooker was mainly known for writing comedy, but here he was trying

something different, a sci-fi horror show that told dark, dystopian stories about the dangers

and horrors of technology.

Taking inspiration from shows such as the Twilight Zone or Tales from the Unexpected,

Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror took on contemporary issues, but he set them in a very

near future, a world which he described as taking place in 10 minutes time.

What started as a small, homegrown British show for Channel 4

soon expanded to become a Netflix phenomenon,

including feature-length episodes with huge budgets starring Hollywood actors.

But even after 15 years and seven seasons, Black Mirror remains one of the smartest, most disturbing,

and most prescient horror TV shows on the air.
