But before we get to the arrest,

that was 40 years in the making, and before we weighed into a sticky kind of trademark issue,

let's chat about Chance Engelbert. What started as a holiday weekend in the heartland of America

back in 2019 has stretched into a six-year

search for chance, a young Wyoming rancher. He was a husband and a father. Back in 2019,

the American Midwest was alive with Fourth of July celebrations. Now, I live in the West. Fourth of

July is huge. In fact, I believe where I live, Fourth of July and Halloween are bigger than Christmas. There's more vibrant celebrations. There's more decorations, absolutely more community engagement. Christmas is more serene, which kind of makes sense. but summer barbecues and fireworks, that's where

it's at in the heartland. Chance's story unfolds in Garing, Nebraska, a small town of about

8,500 people. Tucked up against the Wyoming border, Garing has a rich Oregon Trail history

with the iconic Scots Bluff National Monument rising like an ancient sentinel that guided those traversing the plains, indicating they were on the right path in their westward-bound travels.

Now, this isn't Chances home. He ranches and works a few hours northwest in Moorcroft, Wyoming.

That's a teeny tiny town of just about 1,000 people. In Moorcroft, it's tough living, with tight

community bonds. Coal mining drives the economy. And ranching and working in the coal mines,

well, for chance, that's not for somebody

with a faint heart. Chance was born in December of 1993 in South Dakota. He grew up ranching also in a

small ghost town-like area. His neighbors were sagebrush and coyotes. With his parents and two brothers,

Chance learned early how to ride a horse for work, how to herd cattle for work, and how to work the land for work. A natural fit

for Chance was bronch riding and team roping in the rodeo circuit. Yeah, Chance was a gritty cowboy,
