Alex met Sam at nursery. They were first loves. They built forts together, shared sandwiches in high school and were each other's first kiss.

They were the dream couple until Sam got into EDM music.

This week is Alexander G, most recently the author of How to Write in Autobiographical Novel,

who also teaches creative writing at Dartmouth College. Alex, welcome to the show.

Thank you so much. It's a pleasure to be here.

It's so exciting to have you here. I'm especially excited because it was formally announced late last night early this morning

that the new Dear Prudence is going to be stepping into the position soon and it's Janae Desmond Harris.

And so I have spent most of today being very, very excited because I like her very much.

And now that I'm no longer Dear Prudence, I get one of my old joys back in life, which is I get to read Dear Prudence again.

I didn't get to read it for five years and I love reading advice columns. And it was just like, I already know what happens.

Yes.

But now I get to find out and I'm so excited. So that's the sort of biggest thing that's going on in my neck of the woods today is that I'm thrilled to reclaim an old joy.

How's everything by you?

Oh, it's a sort of moody, cloudy, windy day. We had a bear come for our compost last night.
