And I am so deeply offended by some of the ideas that he is published throughout the years, particularly in a 2014 essay called Why I Hope to Die at 75.

And he tried to make the case that if you're not a productive member of society, if you suffer from some degenerative condition, if your mental faculties have slowed down, if you are giving way to the aging process and working less and producing less and taking more than your life is really not worth living after 75.

I think in the words of Joe Biden, that is hot malarkey.

And I'm so deeply offended by this on a number of levels.

Number one, like Alia taught us, age ain't nothing but a number, all right?

Number two, you can have all of those deficits at a much younger age. And it is that mentality that people are disposable if they are not producing and not offering up something to the collective and therefore they can be dispatched. I don't like that mentality. I don't like that mentality because it does not hold human life to be sacred, which I think it is.

And I think if we have more respect for human life and for wisdom, then we will embrace some of the elders in our families and our society the way I think we should.

My two grandmothers were phenomenal people and they had so much influence and impacts on my life and a number of reasons.
