episode for you. The longest serving governor in Texas history was Rick Perry.

Governor Perry was born in Paint Creek, Texas.

He grew up on his family's farm.

He attended Texas A&M University

where he was a Yale leader.

Graduated in 72 with a degree in Animal Science and immediately went into the United States Air Force,

where he captained a C-130 for four and a half years and left the Air Force as a captain.

Went back to farming and ranching.

He began an extensive career in public service

when he was first elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1984. He served three terms in the House.

Then he was elected Agriculture Commissioner and served two terms there.

In 1998, Governor Perry was elected lieutenant governor and became governor in December 2000

when former President George W Bush resigned to become President of the United States.

And it was then he began his term, as I mentioned, the longest serving governor in Texas history.
