0:31.3	episode for you. The longest serving governor in Texas history was Rick Perry.
0:39.0	Governor Perry was born in Paint Creek, Texas.
0:44.3	He grew up on his family's farm.
0:47.0	He attended Texas A&M University
0:48.8	where he was a Yale leader.
0:51.1	Graduated in 72 with a degree in Animal Science and immediately went into the United States Air Force,
0:57.0	where he captained a C-130 for four and a half years and left the Air Force as a captain.
1:04.2	Went back to farming and ranching.
1:07.0	He began an extensive career in public service
1:09.4	when he was first elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1984. He served three terms in the House.
1:17.0	Then he was elected Agriculture Commissioner and served two terms there.
1:23.3	In 1998, Governor Perry was elected lieutenant governor and became governor in December 2000
1:30.4	when former President George W Bush resigned to become President of the United States.
1:36.4	And it was then he began his term, as I mentioned, the longest serving governor in Texas history.
