Good morning. This is Laura. Welcome to the Before Breakfast Podcast.

Today's tip is to make one spot in your home, a haven.

We can't always control other people's messes, but if clutter bothers you,

having one spot that is tidy can leave you feeling far more serene.

Anyone who has seen my office knows that I am not too bothered by messes.

I get focused on what I am doing, and when I am focused, my physical environment just

doesn't rise up my priority list. That said, even I have a limit,

and in a family of seven people, sometimes the stuff can get out of control.

Rather than spend my life picking things up, I know I can always retreat to my bedroom.

I'm never in there except for when I am sleeping and maybe the 30 minutes or so before I am sleeping.

My closet and bathroom are both down a little hallway, which means there's no need to stack stuff

in the bedroom itself. All that is in there is a bed, a rug, two night tables, two lamps,

a chair, and a decorative shelf, with nothing on the shelf, because the shelf is new,

and I kind of like keeping it empty. In other words, there is really nothing to clean up.

If the bed is made, then the room is completely tranquil.
