Major indexes were mixed today after the president declared that he would hold firm on his latest deadline of August 1st for trade deals.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended down 166 points to close at 44,241. The SMP was down nearly four and a half points,

and the NASDAQ rose almost six points. U.S. copper prices soared to a new all-time high

after President Trump said Washington will slap imports of the metal with a 50% tariff.

Futures contracts for copper, key for electrical wiring, motors, and more,

jumped 13% in the largest single-day price surge in records going back to 1968.

That's according to Dow Jones market data.

Among individual companies, solar stocks fell today after the White House

said it would enforce the halt to clean electricity tax credits faster than expected.

Sunrun shares closed down 11.4%. N-phase energy stocks dropped 3.5%, and first solar ended the day down
