Small talk sucks, so let's dive in. 57-year-old Joseph Gray lived in a house in the woods in Milo, Maine.

On April 16, 2016, at around 3 a.m., his wife Janice woke up to the sounds of their dogs barking,

but it wasn't just any bark.

She told Banger Daily News that it was a danger bark. It was the last thing she expected in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere, so she got up to see what was going on.

bedroom and into the main part of the house and stopped when she saw one of her dogs

intently staring at something outside of the living room window. She got a little closer to

Her curiosity naturally turned to terror and she jumped back and ran to tell Joseph that there was

someone outside. But just as soon as she let him know, she saw a flash, heard a gunshot,

and Joseph fell onto the couch. As he was falling,

he told Janice to call for an ambulance. Everything was happening so fast, and before she could

call for help, another shot was fired. Janice dove for her phone and hit on the ground as she

dialed 911, calling out for Joseph while she waited for

police, but he didn't respond. Five hours later, at around 8.15 a.m., William Elliott, a 24-year-old

junkyard owner, answered the door of his home in Corinth, Maine that was about 25 miles away

from Joseph Gray's home.

As soon as William opened the door, an unknown man shot him and continued shooting him
