Hey you guys this is Heidi St. John thanks for joining me you guys this is Monday which means it's mailbox Monday this is the day of the week that I answer your questions today I'm very excited to have Dr. Mark Sherwood on the show answering your questions we're going to touch on some marriage issues and some health related questions stick around I think you're going to be encouraged.

All right well welcome to the show today is the day that the first the first Monday and December so we are releasing our study today on peace the world might be on its head right now people might be freaking out about a lot of things but if you know the Lord Jesus as your savior the world might be in crisis but you don't need to be God offers peace through the work in person of Jesus Christ was.

And this is the day of the week that I answer your questions I love hearing from you it's just really exciting for me to see how many questions are in the queue right now and there are so many that I asked if doctor mark would come back on the show and help me tackle some of these doctor mark sure would practices functional medicine with his gorgeous wife in the beautiful state of Oklahoma and where you guys met him because he was running for governor and so I love his heart for people a passion for people is what God really develops I think in lead.

Like Mark and now he's taking his love of medicine and he's bringing it here to the show and I'm just so thrilled that he's agreed to come back with me today my friend doctor mark welcome to the show thank you and happy Monday to you happy mailbox Monday that's awesome mailbox Monday is one of my favorite days of the week here at the show because we tackle these questions every single Monday and they come they're coming fast and furious and I asked you to come back today to kind of help me go through a money I thought just hearing your voice of encouragement might be really good.

Starting with a question about marriage in Washington state so I actually tackled this question on a on a sort of surfacy level about a week and a half ago but I wanted to come back with you on the show because I think you could bring a really unique and needed perspective.

I'll read the question to you and then let's hear what you got to say this comes from Lisa in Washington state she said hey Heidi my question is about marriage I'm in deep waters right now that I cannot navigate through in short my husband believes God is healed.

Him of his mental illness and that he no longer needs to take his medication he clearly has symptoms that still cause major issues in our marriage trust for example I have become very angry and disappointed in so many ways I don't know how to deal with this he is clearly deceived and here's voices that aren't from the Lord I don't know how we can heal our marriage when his mind is not sound and I've come to the point of wanting a divorce that can't be God's plan my faith is being tested beyond measure.

Do you have any thoughts I just don't know how to walk through this and we have a daughter hot in the middle.

You know Lisa that's a challenging situation and no one on earth knows your pain but the Lord Almighty does know your pain he's lived your pain he knows everything we could feel in a massive way and beyond so I want you to know that it's easy for me to say it but I'm asking you to believe that you're not alone.

That's number one God is with you through this stuff and he's also with your husband is also with your marriage when people have mental illness which they do from time to time.

They sometimes have these chemical deficiencies and unfortunately because of our eluded environment there created more often these days and then you couple that with the idea that medications a bad thing there are times when medications a good thing if someone is going off the edge man you.

God to throw some medications on there to stop the train from going off the tracks of the train for more of the cliffs many people and I seen this with my own eyes that have issues like with bipolar disorder with high manic episodes and even schizophrenic ish type of episodes you put them on medications and one of the symptoms of those particular conditions is they feel like they don't need the medication because they become numb and they don't need to be in the middle of the day.

They become numb and think they're better than they get off of it so it's more of a a teeter taught or cycle with your husband my suggestion for you is to see if he will give somebody an ear in other words get a relationship built with some sort of clinician some sort of accounts of that actually can speak with him and and not invalidate how he feels and not take away his sense of being.

Encourage him to seek truth at all times now the angle here that I want you to hear me is this you don't have the power to change your husband I want you to know that I wish that you did but then again on the same note I wish you didn't because if we had the power to change people we'd mess them up anyway.

You don't have the power to change him I'm asking you to ask God for a lot of grace and obviously the situation becomes too volatile or dangerous you got to build some separation there and I'm talking about danger to physical harm obviously right so I'm I'm going to temper that remark with that but.

You want to ask God to to not bring perhaps change to him bring change to you in how you deal with him I know that goes against the grain but it is God's way so again.

You ask God to give you peace in it you're not alone and pray that God will put in his path someone to provide an openness open window that I can have a conversation with him and and help him out so that's a big answer to a short question but this is a complex issue and it's it's only going to be dealt with and resolved with the great positions great position in the middle of it.
