Summary

Episode 580 of "SI Media With Jimmy Traina" is an all-Mailbag episode.

The show starts off with Jimmy explaining why the podcast was delayed this week and why there isn't a main guest. The "Traina Thoughts" segment featuring Sal Licata from WFAN and SNY follows the intro. Topics covered include the YouTubeTV-ESPN carriage dispute, the passing of NFL broadcaster Bob Trumpy, the Dodgers beating the Blue Jays in Game 7 of the World Series, Sal's interview with actress Sydney Sweeney and more.

Following "Traina Thoughts," Jimmy opens up the mailbag. This week, listeners had questions about Fox hiring Drew Brees to essentially replace Mark Sanchez on its No. 3 NFL crew, the performances of Joe Davis and John Smoltz throughout the Major League Baseball postseason, in-game manager interviews, Jimmy's process for writing his daily "Traina Thoughts" column, whether Jimmy hates a couple of New York sports media people, ranking the "Seinfeld" seasons and slicing a bagel.

The reason the pod is a day late and the reason why there is no main guest is because last Friday on Halloween,

0:40.3

my dad went into the hospital. He is totally fine now. He's home. No worries. You don't need to send

0:46.9

me tweets and best wishes and all that. Everything's good. I don't, I'm not saying this to alarm

0:51.6

everyone. I'm just giving you a heads up. I didn't want to book a guest and then have to maybe reschedule, postpone because he was supposed to come home Wednesday, took a day off, was all set to bring him home. And then we found out Wednesday night. He wouldn't be coming home until Thursday. So it worked out well that I didn't book a guest because I would not have been able to really record with anyone. So thank you for bearing with me. Like I said, he's fine. We thought it actually was a best case scenario. We thought he hadn't been feeling well for a couple of weeks, palpitations, shortness of breath, no energy. We thought he might need heart surgery or a stent because he's gotten two in the past,

1:32.1

and this is how he felt. It turns out he had very low blood numbers. He built Goldman is supposed to be 8.0. His was 6.4. They gave him blood transfusion Friday, Saturday. By Monday, he was

1:38.6

feeling great. And then Thursday morning came home because Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, they did a bunch of tests to see what the problem was.

1:46.4

So he's fine.

1:47.5

I do want to say only people on Long Island might get this reference and maybe people in New York City or the Trisade Area.

1:53.5

But St. Francis Hospital in Manhasset on Long Island, the staff there couldn't be better.

2:00.3

My respect for nurses is hard to describe. I am in

2:06.4

all I what nurses do and nurses should be making a million dollars a year minimum. So that's all I have to

2:11.8

say about that. And, you know, this isn't like no one there knows who I am or I have a podcast. This is nothing like

2:18.9

that. I just, St. Francis Hospital, you cannot ask for a better hospital. So I just wanted to say that

2:24.9

quickly before we get to the rest of what we got to do. So we'll do trend of thoughts at the top with

2:29.4

Sal. There's a lot to get into with him because he's a YouTube TV subscriber. So I want to get his mood here with the ESPN thing going on.
