Summary

Things are looking bleak for the Bears after the third straight loss. Has the struggling offense and consecutive losses put a wedge between Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy? JJ Stankevitz and Cam Ellis try and answer this question — among many — in the weekly mailbag episode of the Under Center podcast. The crew also wonders which Bears beat writer would win in a foot race, whether the Bears would tag Allen Robinson only to trade him, and how much blame should Matt Nagy get for not being able to develop Mitch Trubisky? (1:14) - Matt Nagy speaks about his in game play-calling and the chances he gives it up (9:08) - Should Pace fire Nagy to protect himself? (14:10) - Are Nagy and Pace on the same page? (19:05) - Who would win in a foot race? (25:25) - If Nagy is fired, what other job would he be able to get? (29:37) - How much responsibility should fall on Nagy for not developing Trubisky? (35:06) - Should Pace draft a QB or an offensive lineman with the Bears 1st round pick? I'm joined by Cam Ellis and producer Tony Gill to take your questions about the Chicago Bears, what the future of Matt Nagy is, what the future of this roster is.

0:20.8

And also we talk about if Matt Nagy is, what the future of this roster is.

0:26.8

And also, we talk about if Matt Nagy is actually going to give up play calling on Monday Night against the Minnesota Vikings.

0:28.2

All that and more on our mailback episode of the Under Center podcast starting right now.

0:32.9

What does it mean to be a Chicago bear?

0:34.5

It means rich tradition, black and blue division, defense.

0:40.3

I think it's the one franchise that when you think about them, being a defensive player

0:45.3

myself, I think that's the first thing you go to. Legends, linebackers, defensive linemen,

0:52.3

dominant players. The history of it. I mean, I'm a big history guy, so

0:56.5

understanding this was one of the first franchises, just kind of blows my mind, honestly,

1:01.2

that was able to be a part of that. I mean, what more can you say?

1:09.4

All right, Cam, before we dive into our mailbag, we got a lot of really good questions this week,

1:14.2

but we do need to talk about Matt Nagy's seeming willingness to actually give up play calling.

1:23.7

We had a chance to catch up with Matt Nagy on Monday, and when he was asked a direct question about if he's going to give up play calling by the Chicago Sun-Times, Patrick Finley, he did not issue the usual denials or qualifiers when he was talking about it.

1:41.7

He said it's, you know, we have to talk about everything that

1:44.3

starts with me. I, you know, but he previously met Nagy when he's been asked about this, which

1:51.6

it's not exactly a great thing, Cam, that this is not the first time Matt Nagy has been asked

1:56.1

about giving up play calling. It's about the fifth, uh, over the course of his tenure with the bears.

2:02.0

He's said,

2:09.7

I'm willing to do it. I have zero ego, but we don't think it's the problem. And there was not that necessary, there was not necessarily that admission of we don't think it's the problem on Monday.

2:13.9

Am I reading too much into that? Or did you hear it the same way I heard it, which is there is a legitimate chance
