Hello, brilliant. Welcome once again to The View from the Lane, your award-winning podcast from The Athletic. I'm Danny Kelly and with me from The Athletic this morning. And looking, I think, rather less bleary than me are Dan Kilpatrick and James Moore. The bleariness, of course, is caused by watching

the England cricket team, even by my own night owl habits. It's played havoc with my daytime

activities. We've got, of course, for a preview of the game against Liverpool, which because

of Spurses' form, it looms hugely for the management team, I guess, at the weekend.

Before that, though, because for the first time in weeks, we haven't got a midweek game to discuss,

James and Dan and I are going to do some of your emails, and there are a vast range of them.

Why don't we start?

First of all, good morning to you all as well.

Martin said, hi folks. Listening to your Monday edition, I was struck by the question about January signings. I think to me, what's more interesting is not who do you think spurs should sign, but who do you think spurs should get rid of? The squad looks unbalanced and bloats to me,

especially in midfield, on the left wing

and in the striker role.

It's been mentioned with the, especially in midfield,

on the left wing and in the striker role. There's been mentioned at the need of a midfield leader, a replacement for Son and a forward to cover for or compete with Solanke. Yet how do we make space for the quality required to, say, match the Mighty Nottingham Forest in midfield. Ha ha ha, ha. Well done, Martin.

Including the three injured players, Madders, Kudu and Biss.

I reckon we currently have nine players who could operate on in midfield two or three.

I guess, James, this is pressing on the bruise of Spurs' ability, or you might call a historic inability, to move players out of the squad as quickly as they need to, in order to get other players in. I mean, it's evident, isn't it, that they're not very good at selling players. Yeah, I mean, I would definitely refer to it as an inability. That's clearly been a problem. And that's been a problem going back to the good old days as well, by the way.
