and it's a mailbag episode. That means zero preamble. Let's get right into it. I will tell you this, Nick, and you know this. And for those listening, there were 12 pages of questions. So we're going to get to as many as we can on this one. We're going to break this up over the course of probably like a week. So next week will be part two, not like tomorrow whenever you're listening to

this and then part three as well if we need like a week. So next week will be part two, not like tomorrow,

0:38.3

whenever you're listening to this and then part three as well if we need to get there. So we want to make sure all your questions get answered, though. It's pre-draft mailbag. It's time, Nick. So let's get to this one first. It's from Jordan Jones. He says, hi, Dan, question for the mailbag all the way from South Wales. I had to get this one in, Nick. said if the giants do not go quarterback in this draft and they take the stud receiver at six,

0:37.7

what do you consider? all the way from South Wales. I had to get this one in Nick, said if the Giants do not go quarterback in this draft and they take the stud

0:56.3

receiver at six,

0:57.4

what do you consider we should do next offseason?

1:00.3

For example,

1:01.1

should they cut Daniel Jones and aim to sign or trade for a veteran quarterback,

1:04.6

maybe like a Stafford or,

1:06.3

you know,

1:06.7

or he's describing what the Rams did for Staffer back at that time when they moved on from

1:11.7

goth what's your plan what's your thoughts thanks honestly i wish i can answer this but he can't

1:16.8

because if daniel jones goes out there and he plays really well then you keep daniel jones

1:20.9

and that's still within the realm of possibility now do i think that's going to happen not

1:25.4

necessarily but it could happen and if that does happen the giant should keep daniel Jones. So it's just a little bit difficult because there's still a year that has to materialize before the Giants make that decision. Yeah, it's a great question for a multitude of reasons. Jordan, I'll start by saying this. Say they take the stud receiver and Jones plays well enough. That's when it gets tricky for me, Nick, because I'm not necessarily that into the idea of keeping Jones for the next season at the $50 million cap it. Now, if the Giants come back to Jones and they say, look, you have a history of two neck injuries, one that required a surgery, one ACL injury, you have four bad seasons on film, one pretty good season on film, And then, let's say it was a pretty good season last year with Jones. The wide receiver helps. The stats are better. I would want a pay cut at that point. I would want him to take a little bit of a salary cut, not a pretty big salary cut at that point because you're not going to win a Super Bowl with Jones making $45 million or $55 million against your cap. It's just, I mean, you might, but it seems at this point, like we're six years into this journey. We have to accept that maybe he'd have a better chance of giving you a winning season. If he has more along lines of a Baker-Mayfield contractor, something in that nature. Now, as far as if Jones doesn't work out, Jordan, and we have to cut Jones to, you know, get the cap space back, the injury situation, all of those things. That's when it gets tricky, Jordan, because that Stafford situation doesn't come around every off season. They're not going to be a Matthew Stafford sitting on the trade market. So this is kind of why people say, if you're at the top of a draft, get your quarterback then with one of your top draft picks because, A, you don't know when you're going to be back up at the top of the draft.

2:49.6

B, you don't know if next year's class or then following year's class is going to have good quarterback talent. And C, you don't really know if there's any kind of free agent option or veteran trade option. And I would probably venture upon saying there won't be. I think more years than not, there aren't the Staffords to trade for.

3:12.2

So unfortunately, the answer to your question, Jordan, is open-ended,

3:17.5

uncertain, and it's the dilemma that we find ourselves in and most franchises find themselves in at the quarterback position.

3:19.1

Hey, Dan and Nick, assuming that the top quarterbacks are off the board at six, which of the

3:23.7

later round quarterbacks are you most fond of seeing in Giants Blue? Which quarterback wide receiver pairing do y'all think would fit in the Dable Kafka system? Also, what's y'all's cheat meals? Yes, that was Darius. Yeah, that was Dary Smith. And thank you, Darius. We definitely know you've been supporting the show for a while, so I appreciate that.

3:42.8

I'll start by saying we just had an interview with Sean McAvoy, and he really sees the quarterback, and he's a quarterback trainer. That's coming out after this, by the way, ladies and gentlemen. So you're not missing it on your feed. Hey, you know, I was on your feed, but we did talk with John,
