It's Mother's Day in America.

It's Mother's Day today.

One day, several years ago, in Belur Mutt, our main monastery in India,

I was walking by the bank of the Ganges towards the temple of the Holy Mother, Ma Shahada's temple.

And I was just thinking that if God would look upon all of us, what would God think of us as?

You're just thinking that. From God's point of view, from our point of view, that's God.

From God's point of view, what are we?

Just a thought came to my mind.

And as I was just climbing up the steps to Ma Shara' temple there,

the answer came automatically immediately.

Of course, God thinks of all of us as children.

God as mother. You know that in Vedantah in Hinduism, one prominent branch of Hinduism

conceives of God as mother, at the sacred feminine and as mother, the divine mother.

In fact, one Christian mystic, probably Eccart, but I don't know for sure,

he writes, what does God do all day long, I wonder?
