Hi everybody. Welcome to another episode of Altocall M-M-A-F-S. Today is a very special episode because I will be chatting with someone who was in the maths universe a couple of years ago,

0:22.1

and we're just touching Bay, seeing how they feel a couple of years, you know, since the time has

0:27.7

passed. And that person is Alexis from season 15 in San Diego. Hi, Alexis. How are you? I am well. Thank you so

0:35.4

much for having me. Thank you. Before I get into anything, where are you

0:42.0

on the fence of maths where, like there's some people where you ask them, how was your time on

0:47.8

maps? And like, that did not exist in my life. I have erased that from my memory. Or they're like,

0:52.9

it was rough, but I have fun memories. Or like, that's one of the best things I've done in my life. Where are you on that spectrum of maths? Like on the fence? I'm probably standing on top of the fence. Like, not on one side, not on the other. I'm not really a regretful person, no matter how it ends. Because in the end end it was my choice to begin with.

1:11.2

And that's how I stand by myself and really just honor where I was at in this moment, I don't know where I came from. And I learned a lot. So like, yeah, I can cry and be like, oh, it didn't go the way I wanted it to X, Y, and Z. Or I could just be like, I did it. There's more life ahead of me and that's where I'm at.

1:28.8

Yeah, that's good.

1:29.6

I mean, that's a positive way, you know, to think about it. And a lot has changed in your life. Like you've moved, you're engaged. Can you give us an update on all the things that have happened to you since you left MAPS or since you were done with MAP? Of course. So most people didn't know. I was in the Navy. I was an officer in the United

1:48.6

States Navy. So I retired from the Navy a little bit after I got off of Maths. I moved from San Diego

1:55.3

to originally Atlanta for a year. And then eventually my fiance got stationed in Great Lakes.

2:02.3

So we came to Chicago.

2:04.4

So now I'm a Chicago girlie trying to stay warm.

2:09.5

That was tough.

2:10.9

But that was kind of like a sped-up version.

2:12.8

Like I went to get another master's degree.

2:16.0

A lot has happened, actually. Yeah. It's kind of hard to encapsulate everything within the amount of time we have. Yeah. I mean, I might as well just get into it because you just mentioned like a lot of people they know you in the Navy. And I know when I think you posted it, everyone was like, wait, I don't think they touched on that. I mean, you mentioned it on the show, but it wasn't a focus. Were you surprised by that? Or did you know that was going to be the case? Well, just legally, since I was in the Navy, they didn't, like I went to just internally to some of the people. And I spoke with them in the Navy, let him know I was going to do it. And it just didn't want to be a reflection of a naval officer.

2:53.5

So they separated my brand from it. Yes, that's who I am and what I was doing at the time. But I wasn't like a speaker on behalf of all things Navy. And I didn't want to be that. That's too much for one person. So I personally, I was going to originally, it's funny because they put like your

3:08.7

title and what you do at the end at the bottom. And I wanted to say in tech, because every time

3:12.8

somebody tells me they're in tech, I have no idea what that means. So I just learned to put something

3:16.7

like vague there, but they were like, no, girl. So yeah. That makes sense. Okay. You were also
