Well, we're going to continue our conversation on the kidnapping of Maduro and the U.S. invasion of Venezuela.

I'm very happy to have our guest today, somebody who we should have had on the program many, many years ago.

I'm a huge fan of Nick Estes, who's a historian author of Our History is the Future among many other great books.

And the sort of anticipation for conversation is mutual.

Well, I mean, I wish, you know, I think we'll just have to have you on in the next

couple months, you know, to talk about, you know, some of your other work because obviously

this news kind of has thrown a wrench in any other

kind of conversation here. And I want to talk a little bit, you know, about your expertise

and like the way that like, I don't know, you wrote a really great piece about how, about the Indian

wars and how that has been kind of a useful justification for the U.S.

Empire to invade and enacting perilism on other countries.

But before we get into that, I want to just kind of get your first reaction on what we've seen over the past few days in Venezuela.

I mean, this is something, I'm curious, you know, just even your initial

reaction here because it's something that there's always been this kind of looming threat that

Trump might do something like this, you know, but you're never really certain there. So I'm just

curious, you know, just going through the weekend what that experience of kind of watching this

unfold has been like for you. So I have friends in context in Venezuela who I stay in contact with, you know, over the course

of several years since the first time I visited Venezuela back in 2019, I believe.

And even in 2019, there were threats of, you know, escalation and military intervention, you know, under a Democratic president, you know, his airplane was seized, not his, but the Venezuelan people's airplane was seized.
