We begin with new details on the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicholas Maduro and his wife over the weekend.

Trump administration officials told lawmakers the couple was injured after hitting their heads as they were fleeing U.S. forces trying to

arrest them. That's what source is familiar with Monday's briefing tell CNN. They say the couple

tried to hide behind a heavy steel door inside their compound, but they hit their heads on the low

door frame. The two appeared in court yesterday in New York with visible injuries, with an attorney

for Maduro's wife saying she may

also have broken or severely bruised ribs. Maduro and his wife pleaded not guilty to drug and

weapons charges and chose not to fight their detention. CNN has asked their lawyers for comment

on the injuries. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump celebrated the Venezuelan operation during a speech

at a House GOP retreat in Washington, D.C. today.
