Summary

This week filmmaker and ceramicist Madelynn De La Rosa returns! It’s been 3 years since she came over to record last and this conversation centered around all she learned in the last year. Recorded just before the holidays, she talks about how some of the biggest changes she’s made in her life have begun as New Year’s resolutions. I’m breaking this into two parts: in this one we talk about shadow work, learning to be gentler on yourself, gene keys, Abraham Hicks, spiritual principles that have helped us, and learning to not be too dogmatic about any of it. Next week: how internal work can lead to external life changes, fear of being ordinary, her film recs and more. Let us know if you listen.

Maddie is returning to the podcast after years, years in the making.

0:43.5

She, if you don't know Maddie, you should, you will in the next two hours.

0:48.5

I'm actually going to break this up over a couple episodes, but she was last on the show in 2020, I believe. We were definitely talking

0:56.3

about how pandemic heavy that time was, and we recorded it in person, and I believe it was

1:04.3

the first one I had recorded in person since pre-pandemic, and that felt like a big deal.

1:11.6

So in that episode, we go over, you know, her origin story and how she ended up making films

1:18.8

and getting into ceramics and how she grew up and lived in so many different places.

1:23.5

And in this one, we centered the conversation really around the last year and how she experienced so

1:31.3

much change.

1:31.9

She really reinvented herself and she went inwards and she learned a lot in the last year.

1:37.4

And we really unpack that.

1:39.2

And another thing that happened, I guess really largely, I would say in the last year, although we've

1:45.5

known each other for the last several, is, you know, Maddie and I, Maddie's like one of my best

1:50.4

friends now. So since that first conversation, we've gotten a lot closer, which I think makes

1:55.0

this conversation much different than the last one you may have heard. And maybe you're new here.

2:00.4

Maybe you're new to me or you're new to Maddie. But welcome. Here we go. We recorded this just before the

2:05.9

holidays. She spoke about how she's actually one of those rare people who sticks to their New

2:11.2

Year's resolutions. And she's actually made some massive shifts in her life that have begun as resolutions. So like I said, I'm going

2:20.8

to break this into two parts, but here in part one, we talk about spirituality, shadow work,
