So like halfway up the first climb and just running and was like, whoa, like, there's

three girls in front of me.

Like, this is crazy.

But I was like, okay, well, I feel good.

I'm just going to keep going.

Like, you know, I'll just see what happens.

And, yeah, then kind of realized, like, okay, now I'm in the front, like, at the beginning

of the bike race, basically.

Hello, everyone. Welcome back to the show. Change of plans this week. Last week, I mentioned

that we're going to have an adventure story this week, but we're moving that to next

week because Maddie Frickin Monroe just finished third at the opening round of the 2026

Mountain Bike World Cup in South Korea. If you follow the Mountain Bike World Cup, you'll be

pretty familiar at this point with a lot of the young American talent that's finishing at the front of

World Cup races, podiums left and right, World Cup overall wins, even downhill now with

Haza Vermet winning his first elite downhill World Cup race in South Korea as well.

But there's now a new name to add to the list. Maddie Monroe is just a

24 year old young rider pretty recently out of the U23 ranks and has been making steady progress.

But she switched teams this year after five years on the same team and she has absolutely hit the

ground running or in this case hit
