For all the time we spend agonizing over the prospect of a deal with China, Wall Street

sure doesn't seem to put a lot of thought into figuring out who actually wins and who loses.

If this trade war is allowed to continue.

Oh, we'll parse every word coming out of the Trump administration to figure out their intentions.

One minute, relatively free traders like Cudlow and Mnuchin have us believe that it deals imminent.

The next minute, the hardliners, making clear that they're happy to keep the tariffs going.

Even raise them.

Until the Chinese government makes some very fundamental changes to the way it does business.

Especially because their economy is slowing.

Our ours is doing just fine.
