And because of this major change, I'm even more grateful for the freedom, flexibility, and time that financial independence and early retirement provide.

0:21.5	since the last time I talked to you and those life changes have actually given me a completely
0:26.0	new appreciation for the benefits of FI and I don't think I've ever been as grateful
0:30.8	as I am now for you know having achieved financial independence.
0:34.6	So I figured to be worth just chatting briefly about that with you and giving you an update
0:38.7	on what's been going on lately.
0:40.5	So I'm extremely happy to say that my wife Jill and I have had our first child and I'm
0:45.3	pretty confident when I say he is absolutely the coolest little kids that's ever been
0:49.6	born so we're over the moon and our lives are completely different but in the best possible
0:55.2	way.
0:56.2	So it's been just over a month since he was born and we're still figuring out parenting
1:00.8	but we're getting into a better routine and at least I have enough bandwidth to record
1:06.0	this short episode so hopefully you get something out of it but before we dive in I guess
1:12.0	a little background is necessary because I didn't think I ever actually wanted to have
1:17.0	kids.
1:18.0	There was so much that I wanted to see and do with my life that I felt like having kids
1:22.2	would maybe get in the way of that and you know early 30s I would say I was pretty selfish
1:26.7	and that's regard like I wasn't a jerk to friends and family and things but I did protect
1:31.5	my time as much as possible because there was so many things that I wanted to do but two
