Nathan McKinnon remembering how to score is probably bad for the other teams in the playoffs.

There was actual legitimate offense in this game, so that was fun,

and the abs looked entirely comfortable to play a game that was a little bit more open

and easily took care of business, frankly.

Importantly, though, instead of the abs having to grind out another win and getting depth

scoring and all of that, it was the abs stars that set themselves up for success.

The early portions of the first period were a bit rough, mostly because the abs took two penalties,

but they're able to kill both of those and find themselves still tied.

And then finally, the abs get a powerplay opportunity that they're actually able to convert.

Aves get the immediate setup because they won the face off on this power play.

That is a big deal, but there are a couple of things I love about this.

Number one, look at how deep the abs get.

Cadry creeping in on this near half wall and

Nathis getting all the way down to the goal line while Landy's working down here. You also have McKinnon in the middle, really forcing L.A. down low. This does open up options for Kail McCar, up high, which you have to respect. That's not what the abs go with here, as this puck will eventually come up to Cadre. and defend. And as that's happening, Nathan McKinnon backs out of the middle into the open space on

the ice. Again, look, respecting Kail McCar, and respecting Marty Natchez, opens up space for McKinnon to find here.

Cadre does a good job to wait it out and find the passing lane for McKinnon, who gets a one-timer off from, look at how deep he is.

This is not the top of the circle one-timer that teams give away sometimes. This is a legit, dangerous area,

and it's just dangerous enough that it slips through Forsberg. Yes, that's definitely a little bit leaky from Forsberg, and it's just dangerous enough that it slips through Forsburg.
