I'm still a bit under the weather, as I just mentioned.

So I'm doing things a little bit different today.

In a minute, I'm going to play a five-minute clip of John MacArthur accidentally sharing falsehoods about the millionaire missionary,

William Borden, who I happen to be somewhat of an expert on his life

in ministry from a sermon preached way back in 1988.

1988 was the sermon from MacArthur.

It was an expository sermon on, I think it was Second Timothy, and he shares at the end of his sermon as an illustration

what he calls the story of William Borden, but there's at least,

by my count, 10 errors, 10 falsehoods in his short testimony showing me clearly that he did not actually do the research on his own or read the book on his own. He's regurgitating something he read somewhere, but it's not the facts, it's not the truth. And so I've got more to say about that after we listen to the five minute clip that I want to share with you.

And then I'll come back and I'll explain some of those details, what he got wrong and why, and a few other broader thoughts on that particular topic of, I guess the topic would be of getting things wrong when preaching, even preachers that we generally trust and like what they say.
