Gene Munster hung up his Piper Jaffrey Windbreaker on Thursday. On Friday, Michael Olson put it on.

Baron's had word of Merlin's first note as Piper Jaffrey's Apple analyst, and he does a decent Munster impression to start.

He's kept on he jeans overweight rating on Apple shares as well as his 12-month price target of $155. He thinks iPhone will show sales growth for the first half of 2017,

thanks largely to the week sales in 2016 to which they'll be compared.

And he thinks Apple wants to be seen as less of a hardware company and more of a services company.

Those services will have to be a bigger part of Apple's bottom line for most investors to take that seriously.

Bottom line. Piper Jaffrey is moving right along on Apple, humming a tune made famous by

Unkey Jean.

There was a negative note on Apple on Friday, or a positive note about a bunch of companies

with a negative tinge for Apple. A separate piece from Behrens had Jeffries and

Company analyst Rex Wu issuing a note on the rise of Chinese smartphone makers Opo and Vivo.

According to the peace, in 2017 both companies have big ambitions with Opo intending to sell

160 million units, double what it's expected to do this year.

Part of that will involve expanding to overseas markets, including the U.S.
