While the scarcity of iPad mini with retinid display may be frustrating this holiday season.

A couple of industry watchers say they won't be in short supply for long.

KGI Securities Ming Chi Quo and IHSI Supplies, Rhod Rhoda Alexander both expect shipments to ramp up in a big way next

quarter, which sounds like good news except for the part where Apple's going to be ready

for holiday-sized sales volumes after the holidays.

Looking at the individual analysts' expectations, Apple and Cider has Quo saying,

Retina iPad mini- mini shipments will grow 102% next quarter.

He says sales of that device will come at the expense of Apple's recently released iPad

air. One wonders then whether some people who might have bought the

Retina mini this holiday season will instead pony up the extra box for the

full-sized retina tablet. Time and Apple may tell on that one at the end of this quarter.

Then again Apple is pretty unlikely to break out the number of iPads sold by model.
