We start with a stupid story from Business Insider and you say why are we starting with a stupid story and I say because it's out there and it feels important to give it context

especially when it sailed under a headline like the iPhone 8 is failing to live up to

sales of its predecessor.

We've got one of our first indications of iPhone 8 sales reads the piece and they're

not spectacular. The article hinges on numbers from

market tracker, Canalis which seems to do a decent job.

Quoting that bit of the piece, Apple shipped 11.8 million iPhone 8 and 8 pluses in the third quarter of

2017, Candelous Estimates, versus 14 million iPhone 7s back in the third

quarter of 2016. If that's all there was, that would be an issue. Of course,

it's not. As Business Insider itself points out, there's one big qualifier in all of this, the iPhone 10.

Let the congregation say, duh, the way the article puts it,

iPhone 8's under performance places additional pressure on the iPhone 10 to perform well and highlights why the

current delays of the device must be so frustrating for Apple.
