The statements that both Apple and GT Advanced Technologies tried to keep sealed have been

unsealed.

Not surprisingly, GT Advanced blames Apple for the failure of their

deal while Apple seems to be in more of a these things happen mindset. Of course it would be easy for Apple to be fairly Zen about the whole thing.

Apple is still a going concern while GT Advanced is in bankruptcy.

The deal does sound like a particularly tough one for GTAT. The

Unofficial is particularly tough one for GTAT. The unofficial Apple Weblog has part of GTAT C-O-O-O-Daniel Squillers' unsealed statement,

in that he said that Apple originally offered to buy 2,600

sapphire furnaces from GTAT. Somewhere along the way negotiations

change though and Apple instead offered to lend GTAT the money to buy the furnace

parts.

GTAT would then build the furnaces and produce sapphire, which Apple would buy at a price that was slightly reduced from what GTAT

would charge most companies. Quoting Squillers statement, this part from

Bloomberg, with a classic bait-and strategy, Apple presented GTAT with an onerous

and massively one-sided deal in the fall of 2013, when GTAT's management expressed obvious concerns to Apple regarding the deal terms during the contract negotiations,

Apple responded that similar terms are required from other Apple suppliers
