Two big banks may be eyeing the iPhone.

Bloomberg says Bank of America and Citigroup are kicking around the idea of letting

employees use Apple smartphone instead of Research and Motion's BlackBerry.

Three people said to be familiar with the plan say both banks are testing software meant to make the iPhone secure enough for company messages, which may be a blow for the

BlackBerry. According to the piece the tests alone are yet another indication

that research in motion may be losing its hold on the corporate smartphone

market. Roger Entner, head of the Telecom Research

Division at Nielsen comments on the continued consumerization of corporate IT, saying people

are delighted with their iPhones and Android phones and they want to use

them for work, the result is rim now has real competition for corporate customers.

While B. A's 284,000 employees plus Citigroup's 284,000 employees, plus Citigroup's 258,000, could be a decent win for Apple,

the bigger story, as Bloomberg sees it, is the potential loss for research and motion. One source tells the publication
