Gartner thinks they will and in abundance.

Seen that has Gartner predicting a return to smartphone growth in 2018 after declining

sales this year and last year.

Speaking of itself in the third person,

Gartner's own release says,

Gartner expects Apple's iPhone 10

to be the sales driver in North America, China, and Western Europe, despite its high price.

Given the late November availability of the iPhone 10, we expect the iPhone's replacement

cycle to flow more strongly into 2018 said Roberta Kosa

research director at Gartner and if shortages lead to a slow start for iPhone 10

sales that just strengthens Gartner's assessment or as the

firm framed it component shortages could lead to the inability to meet smartphone

demand in the fourth quarter of 2017, further favoring unit sales moving into 2018.

Gartner's looking for a total of 1.9 billion smartphone shipped in 2018. that would be up 2% from this year's expectations
