It has been a very long time since Apple made news at Macworld Expo.

The last time was likely 2008 when less than a month before 2009's event, Apple announced that its next Macworld would be its last.

While Apple has not taken part in the event for the last five years, the event has gone on and has played an important part in the lives of a lot of

developers, vendors, and members of the Mac and Apple community.

Or at least it had until yesterday, a number of sites including Cult of Mac hit with news on Wednesday

that IDG has cancelled 2015's Macworld I World event. Officially, the show as a whole has been put on hiatus

Those someone on Twitter liken that announcement to a parent telling a child

that his or her dog has gone to live on a farm where it can play with other dogs. Having cast that

as version it seems only fair to say what IDG actually said.

Quoting its statement in full, we are announcing today that Macworld I World is going on hiatus and will not be taking place as planned in 2015.

Our Mac IT event, the world's premiere event for deploying Apple in the enterprise, will continue next year with details to be announced in the coming weeks. Since 1985, Macworld events have brought together a community to celebrate the incredible innovations that Apple has brought into the world

shining a spotlight on the developers who add value to the users experience in infinite ways.
