Samsung has apparently been burned again by the fiery hellscape that is the

Galaxy Note 7 disaster McGedengate. Last week the company said it expected to

report operating profit for the third quarter of 7.8 trillion won roughly

6.9 billion dollars. Then Tuesday the company announced that it was killing its

latest flagship phone. Then Wednesday the company said, hey remember that

7.8 trillion wan? Maybe not so much with that.

Baron says Samsung lowered its operating profit forecast for the third quarter to 5.2 trillion won or 4.6 billion dollars.

Now what you think all of this means for Apple seems to rely on what you thought of Apple

before Samsung started selling

fiery phones. I told you yesterday of Apple Bowl Brian White of Drexel

Hamilton saying that Samsung's misfortune could mean as many as 8 million extra iPhone sold by the end of this year.

Meanwhile, Apple Bear Maynard Am of Wells Fargo said he thinks the big winner in the fiasco won't

be Apple, but makers of other high-end Android phones.
