Smart phone market share numbers have been weird for years and continue to be so.

But they're worth noting for at least one reason.

Engadgett has new numbers from Comscore this week that indicate a surprising uptick for iPhones in August.

According to the piece, the iPhone controlled a 34.3% share of the smartphone market in the States in August, up from July is 33.4%.

In fact, the iPhone's share seems to have been on the upswing since April,

when Comscore the phone with a 31.4% share.

Strange, right?

When the story at the end of the June quarter was that the iPhone sales were disappointing
