Here's a sentence you almost never hear.

There's a new bit of malware turning up in the app store.

I download blog has word of X code ghost, a bit of malware that the

site says collects information from infected devices and uploads that information to remote

servers. That sounds scary so let's that app's name, the app's bundle identifier, current devices name and type, current systems

language and country, current devices, UUID, and the network type.

All in all, that's fairly benign sounding.

Further, most people listening to this are not likely to be affected, as most of the affected

apps are aimed at consumers in China. According the report, this type of malware seems to be mostly targeting apps developed

for the Chinese market, but as certain apps written by Chinese developers gain in popularity

around the world.

iPhone and iPad users should be aware of this new type of malware infection,

even if there's nothing they can do about it.

That raises an interesting philosophical question. Would you want to know if a meteor was about to hit the earth?
