One UK researcher says multifunction tablets will win over dedicated e-readers.

Gosh, really?

JK on the run has the UK's informat telecoms and media saying that tablet

sales should hit 50 million by 2014 a 12 hundred percent increase over the

3.65 million tablets expected to be sold this year.

Quick question, Apple sold 3.27 million tablets in the second quarter of the calendar year.

Are they really only expected to sell 380,000 more for the rest of the year and nobody else gets to sell any?

The wave of Android-based iPad competitors started in earnest at last week's IFA trade show in Berlin,

though many of those will soon wash away. That's the thinking of Ray Chen,

President of Compel Electronics. Chen's thoughts might be disconcerting for some since his company, Compel,

makes some of those iPad competitors for the likes of Aeser, Lenovo, and Dell. Fortune has Chen saying,

while a number of iPad wannabies will soon flood the market,

many of them will disappear within a year.

Chen figures all of the iPad knockoffs combined will sell between 10 and 12 million units next year,
