Remember when Apple and the people behind E. Pete or the electronic product

environmental assessment tool got into a spat a few years ago?

Hard to imagine today. It was in 2012 that Apple said it was

done with the organization. We're trying to live up to its guidelines. Apple's announcement came amid the introduction of machines that were harder and harder to get into.

Physically.

According to a 2012 report from the BBC, Apple's decision to leave followed the release of a new laptop,

which was hard to disassemble and recycle, meaning the device would have been unlikely

to have secured the scheme's top rating.

Then people lost their minds and the city of San Francisco said it would not be buying

any more Apple kit without the E. Pete seal. And Apple said, tell you what, we'll rejoin EPEAT. And EPEAT relaxed its standards

by some accounts, making it possible for Apple products that wouldn't pass muster to pass muster.

All of that almost completely forgotten history may now be completely forgotten history. In a bit of tablet tabulation that sounds impossible,
