Consider the list of ingredients that went into making

Pokemon go the juggernaut that it is.

Augmented reality is a thing that's wanted to happen for a while.

I have a friend who's dismissive of the game because it was a really cool game a lot like

Pokemon Go called Ingress that came out a couple years ago.

She says it's cool. I haven't actually played it yet.

How similar are the games? Well according to another friend who's played both, they're

practically identical. That's because Nyantic, the developer behind Pokemon Go is the same company that developed Ingress.

And so the developers have had a couple of years to get the system down before hitting with the biggest hit the App Store has seen to date.

More on that in a bit.

The next ingredients strike me as a tie.

It looks like a combination of pen up demand and nostalgia.

Unless I'm forgetting something there hasn't been an official licensed Pokemon game for the

App Store before Pokemon Go.
