We finally have some idea of when the European Commission will decide on

Apple's tax dealings in Ireland.

It will decide eventually. We actually have no idea. Business

insider had Ireland's finance minister Michael Noonan speaking at a press conference on Tuesday.

After a meeting with the E.C. Margarets of Estea, Noonan said,

Commissioner Vestia indicated to me that there wouldn't be a decision in July, but there would probably be a decision early in the autumn.

My expectation is September or early October.

Noonan went on to say, I didn't discuss the potential decision, but we did discuss the presentation of the decision.

I have no indication of what way the decision will go or what the implications of the decision will be. It's worth

remembering. No one is saying that Apple has done anything illegal here. Rather the

piece says the EC accused Ireland in 2014 of dodging international tax rules by giving

Apple an amazingly sweet tax deal in exchange for Apple's maintaining jobs in Ireland. And yet, should the EC decide that Ireland was in the wrong

and offering the deal it offered, Apple could be on the hook for a substantial amount of
