Judgment Day for Apple and Ireland.

The Irish publication RTE says officials if circled next Wednesday the 15th of July on the

calendar that is when the general court of the European Union will deliver its

judgment in the Apple State Aid case. I know you remember this one. Apple had a tax deal with Ireland

that both parties thought was cool in the gang. The European Commission took a look and said,

Actually, that deal seems a little too cherry.

If Ireland was off on its own, it wouldn't matter what the EC thought,

but being part of the European Union, it did slash does.

The E.C. fined Apple 13 billion euros, roughly $15 billion US,

though it put the money in escrow since both Apple and Ireland

wanted to appeal the decision. They did. The E.C. rebuttaled. Rebutted. They did. The E.C. responded. Now we wait six days. The Commission is quoted in

the pieces saying there has been significant work in making the state's case both orally and in written format before the general court.

We cannot prejudge the decision of the general court and are now awaiting their judgment on Wednesday, the 15th of July.

Then we will probably wait some more, or keep hearing about it at the very least.
