CNBC says the H.S.B.C. Global Co. Head of Consumer and Retail Research, issued a note of concern

over Apple's exposure in the trade war between the U.S. and China. On the U.S. side of the line, Rembors worried that Apple will up the cost of iPhones or

absorb the cost itself, either of which would apparently be bad.

Quoting CNBC, the analyst notes suggested that recent tariff hikes on imports of Chinese

goods into the U.S. and the subsequent retaliation from Beijing could either force Apple to increase prices, driving down demand

given consumer sentiment about recent iPhone launches being too pricey, or take

a hit on margins. On China's side, the analyst says there is a risk that in the Chinese market consumers accelerate the shift to smartphone substitutes,

notably by going to local brands with comparable functionality,

Huawei Shalmi as examples.

And yes, he's heard the services story from Apple execs,

but he doesn't see those making up for iPhone.
