Tech Crunch has new numbers from Canilists that show a crater where China's smartphone growth used to be.

The firm's report has smartphone shipments for China, dropping 21% for the March quarter

versus the same quarter a year earlier. It also shows the total number of

smart phones shipped in China last quarter at under 100 million units, the lowest quarterly number since late 2013.

Candelas says Apple took it in the gut from one local manufacturer,

quoting the Tech Crunch, a look at the

Canalist report of the field, only Shao Me was able to post

positive momentum as its numbers grew by 37% to reach 12 million.

That was enough to see it overtake Apple in the fourth place, but

Shao me numbers are still heavily reliant on its 150 dollar Red Me range, which isn't as

lucrative as its higher-end products.
