Last year was a bad year for malware for the Mac, though who knows?

Five years from now we may look back and say, Remember like five years ago when there was no malware for the Mac?

That won't have been true, of course.

Macromers has word of new numbers from McAfee Lab's threat report.

According to the security firm, malware targeting the max rose 744% last year.

The good news, a lot of that was Adware. It's not often that Adware can be

considered good news, but here is such a case. More staggering than the number of malware threats for the Mac is the number of

malware threats overall.

Quoting Mac rumors.

MacPethi says it discovered 460,000 malware samples on Mac machines, a huge increase over 2015 numbers, but still

just a small portion of overall malware out in the wild.

According to MacAfee, there were more than 630 million

total instances of malware last year. To put that in context pretend I'm a piece of malware.
