What a difference a few weeks can make.

When Apple Senior VP of Stuff and More Stuff, Eddie the Stuff Q spoke last month at

South by Southwest, he said that the number of paid subscribers to Apple Music was $38 million.

Now Apple Insider says Apple's content director in France has up that number by 2 million.

According to the piece, Apple France exec Stephen Hewen tweeted on Wednesday that the paid subscriber number now stands at

40 million.

While neither Hewins or Q's numbers are dated or precise, says the piece, the expansion suggests that Apple music growth

rates are either still good or climbing month over month.

Certainly that's something the stuff indicated last month after dropping the 38 million

number Q indicated that another 8 million people were then in the midst of the

three month Apple Music free trial.
