wearables may have a fairly easy way in available to them.

Tech Crunch says Basis Science, the company that makes the Basis Health

Tracker watch, has put itself up for sale. The company has said to be

has put itself up for sale. Not with a big for sale sign, of course.

Rather, the company is said to be shopping itself around

with sources indicating an asking price under $100 million.

There's something kind of amusing about the news slash rumor.

What makes bases a potentially interesting acquisition is the known interest that companies

like Apple, Samsung, and Google have in wearables. Apple has of course been making a

boatload of hires and small acquisitions in the medical sensing sector,

Google is continuing its interesting tech expansion,

with such initiatives as the wearable Google Glass

and Smart Thermostat Maker Nest,

the acquisition of which was completed last week.

And Samsung has the Galaxy Gear, which may not be the best Smart Band on the market but is

reportedly the biggest in terms of units shipped in 2013,

likely thanks in part to the interest people having an I-watch,

and partly due to a massive marketing push by Samsung.

Smart watches aren't even at their beginning yet though.
