Maco-Sken. It's hardly the most unexpected announcement still Still, it's kind of a blow.

Tech Crunch says, G-S-M-A, the outfit behind Mobile World Congress in Barcelona,

has pulled the plug on this year's show.

The news comes after many of the show's biggest vendors pulled out over coronavirus concerns.

Mobile World Congress normally attracts over 100,000 attendees from all over the world.

In a statement on its website, the organization said since the first edition of Mobile World

Congress in Barcelona in 2006, the G.S.MA has convened the industry, governments,

ministers, policy makers, operators, and industry leaders across the broader system.

With due regard to the safe and healthy environment in Barcelona and the host country today,

the GSMA has cancelled Mobile World Congress Barcelona Barcelona, 2020, because the global concern regarding the

coronavirus outbreak, travel concern, and other circumstances make it impossible for the

G.S.M.A. to hold the event. The statement went on to express

sympathies for those affected in China and all around the world. G.S.M.A. also said it's working with partners toward MWC Barcelona 2021 and future editions.
